Farewell by Justices
CONSTABLE N. A. PRUSSING Pahiatua Justices gathered yesterday morning at the County Council Chambers to farewell Constable Prussing, who has served as senior constable in Pahiatua for four and a-half years and is being transferred to Martinborough. The senior Justice, Mr. J. D. Wilson, apologised for the absence of Messrs. J. D. Crewe and A. W. Bisset, J.P’s, and Constable le Comte. Mr. Wilson spoke of the help Justices of the Peace received from Constable Prussing and said this little gathering was an appreciation for what he had done in the past. Constable Prussing had kept law and order in the town to a very marked degree and would always be remembered by the Justices of that town for what he had done. On behalf of the Justices he handed Mr. Prussing a handsome fountain pen. Messrs. E. P. Badger, A. A. Vaughan, ’L. H. Hartley, J. Hutton and L. D. Lovelock supported the senior Justice and wished Mr. Prussing health and happiness in his new surroundings. Mr. W. E. Cobb, clerk of the court, also paid tribute to Mr. Prussing’s readiness to co-operate in the court. After musical honours Mr. Prussing suitably replied, thanking everyone for their remarks.
