BOOK TO BE PUBLISHED Per Press Association. HASTINGS, Last Night. Hawke’s Bay soon will have a book published covering as completely as possible the economic and social conditions and problems that bear on land utilisation in the province. The object is to encourage closer settlement, future prospertv and the tackling of problem* which confront industries, particularly farming, in obtaining the maximum fertility from tho laud. This is the most ambitious scheme of the kind ever tried in New Zealand. During the last two and a-half years the Department of Agriculture has been engaged in making a thorough survey of the main problems of agriculture, soil and pastures, and at a meeting today attended by representatives of local bodies, social organisations and important industries, it was unanimously decided to assist the department in obtaining the remaining necessary data for the compilation of tlie book.
