A thrilling contest was seen in the A grade Guy Cup match played at Halcombe on Saturday. Both Halcombe and Beaconsfield were unbeaten teams until Saturday’s game, when th 6 home team won by the narrowest of margins. With one set to be played, Halcombe led by 8 sets to 7. Evehything hinged on the final game between L. Anderson and D. French. Anderson just managed to win by 6 games to 5, which gave Halcombe the victory by 9 sets to 7. The following were the results:—

Men’s singles: G. Hamilton beat J. Stewart, J. O’Sullivan beat G. Coggin, T. Clapham lost to fi. Buchanan, L. Anderson beat D. French.

Women’s singles: Mrs R. J. Managh lost to Miss U. McLean, Miss E. McLennan beat Mrs J. Stewart, Miss D. McNae beat Mrs Fitzpatrick, Miss M. Clapham lost to Miss French.

Men’s doubles: Hamilton and O’Sullivan beat Stewart and French; Anderson and Clapham beat Coggin and Buchanan. Women’s doubles: Mrs Managh and Miss McLennan lost to Miss McLean and Mrs Stewart; Misses McNae and Clapham beat Mrs Fitzpatrick and Miss French. Combined doubles: Mrs Managh and Hamilton lost to Mr and Mrs J.
