Fine Generally Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, Last Night. A rather intense anti-cyclone covers south-eastern Australia and extends across the south Tasman on to southern New Zealand. A degression is located over the north Tasman. Winds: Becoming southerly or southeasterly over the .South Island and the southern portion of the Cook Strait area; elsewhere variable at first but later north-easterlies setting in and becoming strong in the far north. Seas (New Zealand waters): Slight to moderate but later rising about Cook Strait and north of East Cape. Eastern Tasman Sea: Strong east to north-east winds and rough seas in the northern portion; elsewhere moderate south-east to east winds and slight to moderate seas. Weather: Fine generally at first but cloud increasing, especially in eastern and far northern districts, with mist or fog in places and scattered showers or misty rain developing. Temperatures: Warm but becoming cooler about and south of Cook Strait.
