Daring Robbery

£65 TAKEN FROM SAFE. For Press Association. ROTORUA, Last Night. A daring robbery occurred at Rotorua railway station when the premises were entered and a sum of money removed from a small safe which was blown open. The office was locked shortly after midnight on Saturday and the lights were left on. When the acting-station-master arrived at the station he found the safe badly shattered and wide open. The contents, totalling approximately £65 and various papers had been removed. A broken pane of glass above the catch on a window near the ticket office indicated that the intruders used the window as a means of entry. £7O STOLEN BY SAFEBRBAKEKS IN CHRISTCHURCH Per Press Association. CHRISTCHURCH, Last Night. Using a well-judged charge of explosive iu the keyhole to shatter the lock, skilled safe-breakers opened a safe at the shop of Alessrs. Sharman and Sons, Ltd., in Colombo street, during the week-end, and took about £7O in cash, including 401 b. in pennies. The theft was not discovered until the staff arrived at work this morning, when they found the back door of the premises open and the safe lying in the passage which runs from the back door to the shop, the office opening into itThe cash-box was missing from the safe, but was subsequently found upstairs, where the thieves had opened it with a meat chopper found on the premiseH. There were no marks to show how the thieves entered.
