Misses K. and D. Kirkwood, of To Awamutu, are visiting Palmerston North and will later proceed to Levin and Wellington. Friends of Miss Joyce M ell wood, of the staff of Terrace End School, who has been on sick leave, will be glad to learn that she has now returned to Palmerston North. Hastings has lost one of its most highly respected residents in the person of Mrs. J. C. Tosswill, whose death occurred on Thursday evening. Mrs Tosswill was a keen church worker and an enthusiastic gardener, the grounds surrounding her home adjacent to Cornwall Park being one of the town’s greatest attractions. Mrs. Tosswill was the second daughter of the late Dr. Thomas Bennett, Bulls, Rangitikei, and she was born in Wellington. Her hus band was the late Dr. J. C. Tosswill, and she has two sons living abroad, both of whom she visited last year. They are Mr. J. T. Tosswill, a barrister, at Kuala Lumpur, Malay States, and Mr. R. C. Tosswill, an engineer in Toronto, Canada, and there are also one grand-daughter and one grandson. Mrs. Tosswill is survived by two sisters and two brothers, Mrs. A. Crawford (Wellington), and Miss Bennett (Otaki), and Messrs R. E. Bennett (Otaki) and T. E. Bennett (Brisbane).
