Dr. C. F. Morkane, of Christchurch, received word that the British College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists ha* elected him for the rare distinction of a Fellowship of the college.

Mr. L. T. Roberts, solicitor of the Public Trust Office, Hastings, has left for Auckland, where he has been transferred. Tho vacancy in the Hastings office has been filled by the appointment of Mr, F. P. Evans, of Dunedin.

Rev. J. S. Pate, of St. David's Presbyterian Church, Terrace End, yesterday placed his resignation before the congregation in view of ill-health. It is his intention to proceed to Australia on holiday.

Rev. A. V. Whiting, formerly minister of the Beresford Street Congregational Church, Auckland, has accepted a call to the Ycovillc Congregational Church, Johannesburg, South Africa and will begin his ministry there on Sunday, April 3. Mr. Lindsay Buchanan, son of Mr. and Mrs. A. R. Buchanan, Kairanga, has received notice of his selection for a short-service commission in the Royal Air Force. He will be leaving for England by the Rangitata on April 7, and will be one of a party of 18 selected candidates —the first group to be sent this year. Mr. F. S. Candy, general manager of the Hawke’s Bay Farmers’ Meat Company, is to retire at the end of the present season. He has been actively associated with the frozen-meat industry in New Zealand for over 48 years. Born at Halswell, near Christchurch, he was educated at Christchurch Boys* High School and joined the Christchurch staff of the Canterbury Frozen Meat Company in 1890. The industry had then been established for only about six years. After some years in the Christchurch office of this company, Mr. Candy was appointed manager of the Pareora works of the company in South Canterbury, near Timaru. He was appointed manager of the Hawke’s Bay Farmers’ Meat Company in 1914.
