An extensive and rather irregular depression still covers the Tasman, whil<the rise of pressure over south-eastern Australia has been slight. Winds: Northerlies prevailing at first except in the far south but a change to southerlies or south-easterlies extending over most of the South Island, force mainly light to moderate but squally at times about and south of Cook Strait. Seas (New Zealand waters): Rather rough to rough at times in the Cook and Foveaux Strait areas and on the west coast of the South Island, otherwise slight to moderate; winds variable with northerlies predominating in the central and northern portions but a change to southerlies advancing from the west; seas moderate but increasing. Weather: Unsettled and rain probable in most districts, heavy in places especially over the South Island. Mist or fog in many places. Temperatures becoming somewhat cooler.
