Sunday Motor Collisions

NARROW ESCAPE WHEN CAR TURNS OVER The intersection of Church anu Princess streets, Palmerston North, was the scene of a spectacular motor collision shortly after one o 7 clock yesterday but fortunately nobody was seriously hurt. The cars were driven by Mr. Joseph Frederick Field, Linton street, Palmerston North, who had three passengers, and Thomas Leonard Fitzsimons, of Pohangina, who had a sister and two younger brothers with him. Fitzsimons 7 car, a light type, finished up on its hood with wheels in the air, the occupants crawling out through broken windows. They were lucky in that they only received a shaking. The hood of this vehicle was considerably damaged. At 11.15 a.m. yesterday two cars were proceeding up Broadway and when the leading driver essayed to turn around, the following driver ran into him. Nobody was hurt but the second car, a small one, was damaged to the extent of a bent axle, broken spring, ruined radiator as well as dented bodywork. The d river of the first car was D. G. Riddifprd, of Sydney street, Palmerston North, and the driver of the second eair J. R. F. Ganderton, of Regent street J Palmerston North. A pedestrian, Henry Arthur Pickin, of Lombard street, Palmerston North, was knocked over b ya car driven by Edgar Keith Ticehurt, of Carterton, in Cuba street, on Saturday evening, to suffer minor injuries. It had been raining and visibility was bad at the time.
