Women’s Institute

GLEN OROUA The monthly meeting of the Glen Oroua Women’s Institute was held on February 8, with a good attendance of members. An apology for absence was received from Mrs Wheeler. Mrs Stevens of Palmerston North gave a talk on Native Trees. The best bloom was won by Mrs Lawlor 1, Mrs Ihle 2. and Mrs W. Boswell 3. The best collection of vegetables was won by Mrs C. Hamilton 1, Mrs W. Moswell 2, and Mrs Yallender 3. The Hostesses put on a competition which was won by Miss Vallender. It was decided to hold a piCnic on March 5 on Mr Thompson’s bush at Kopane. Members are quite pleased with the result of their stall at the Feilding show where they gained the highly commended ticket. Mrs Thompson thanked Mr Stevens for his interesting talk. Afternoon tea was served by the Hostesses Mesdames Saunders, Tasker, Boswell and Parlane.
