RELIABILITY TRIAL Eleven riders assembled at 10 a.m. on Sunday last to compete in the leliability trial for the Harley-David-son cup. The weather was most favourable in view of the hard route chosen, which becomes very tricky after heavy rain. The first man was away at 10.27, and thereafter at half-minute intervals. The first part of the route, over Fitzherbert bridge and through Linton to Scotts road, was easily negotiated, the road being in excellent condition. Turning left along Scotts road and climbing the hills for miles, the way called for

frequent use of gears, sharp bends and outcrops of Tock in the road keeping most riders fairly busy. Descending the other side of the kills along the Kahauterawa Valley road proved even more difficult, rocks, patches of mud and streams across the road being the chief obstacles. Spills appeared to be fairly frequent, though nothing of serious consequence occurred to mar the outing.

One rider, however, was obliged to retire near the end of this road due to his carburetter coming adrift. This unfortunate is extremely grateful to the small picnic party which tcok him under its wing and provided tea and eats.

The second section of the run was around the Tiritea block and back to town. The ten riders left now had to give of their best, as this section was

more difficult to negotiate than anything before. The placings of the riders, with total points lost, are as follows: —H. Robson 43, G. Zaloum 87, C. Gore 107, R. Gore 172, M. Andrews 174, J. Redshaw 208, J. Dallas 213, R. Styles 221, D. Collison 227, J. Belk 237, J. E. Flavell (retired).
