Sheep-dog Trials
LONG HEAD EVENT NAPIER, Feb. 24. From Our Own CorrespondentThe Central Hawke’s Bay Sheep-dog Trial Club commenced its annual trials yesterday on grounds loaned by the Dolbell Estate at Redclyffe, Taradale. The long head event was completed, and the work all round was of a high standard. The course was in good order, and gave the dogs an opportunity of displaying their working abilities. All dogs got their sheep well, and most of them completed their run. Good entries have been received for all the events. The yarding event, which was started late yesterday afternoon, is expected to be completed to-night. There was a good attendance of the public, and keen interest was shown in the trials. The trials have been well organised, and a most successful meeting is anticipated. The judge, Mr. Eric McLeod, of Raupare, expressed himself as well pleased with yesterday’s work. Results:— CLASS I.
