From Our Own CorresDondent. Vatedictory, Mr Reg. Moess, who is shortly to be married and will leave th© district, was given a farewell on Saturday evening. Mr Moess, who has been a resident of the district all his life, has of latter years been of great assistance at many public functions. The esteem in which he is held was evinced by the large gathering present. Mr Arthur Wood, on behalf of the residents of the district, called upon Mr Moess to accept a substantial cheque in recognition of th© esteem in which he is held and also in appreciation of his valued services. He wished him every happiness in his married life and every success in his new venture. The guest of honour returned thanks. The evening took the form of a dance, music being supplied by various musicians. Plunket Society. Th© annual meeting of the Rangiwahia sub-committee of the Plunket Society was held at Mrs Morgan’s residence on Monday afternoon, Mrs R. H. Guthrie, secretary of the Mangaweka sub-branch presiding over a good attendance. Before commencing the business, members stood in silence as a mark of respect to th© late Sir Truby King, the founder of the Plunket movement. Mrs Guthri© gave a resume of the work of the Society throughout the Taihape district during the past year and congratulated the local members on the arrangement by which they met at Mrs Morgan’s home each year. Special thanks were extended to Mrs Morgan for making this possible. As the result of a social evening held last November, the committee’s funds are In a good condition and showed a credit balance of £2 10s. It was decided that a donation of £1 be made to Mr A. McCaskie, In appreciation of his services in preparing the room for the nurse’s visit eaeh month. Mr McCaskie later returned the donation, for which the committee extends special thanks. Afternoon tea and a vote of thanks to Mrs Morgan brought th© meeting to a close. Personal and General. Mrs Packer, of Feilding, is th© guest of her aunt and uncle, Mr and Mrs F. Saywell. Constable A. J. Couper, of th© Auckland Police Force, is home on annual leave. His friends will regret to learn that Mr Les. Reilly has lost his index finger of the left hand, as the result of an accident when bush-felling. Mrs Wood, Senr., is holidaying In the Tauranga and Gisb'orn© districts.
