From Our Own Correspondent. Mrs M. Hansen has returned home after spending a holiday in the Waikato disjunct. , 1 Miss Alice Wild, accompanied by her sister, Hazel, is on holiday in the Wellington district. | Mi’s Hamlin has returned from an enjjoyable motor tour of the North Island. : She was accompanied by her sister, j Mrs C. Collins has been visiting Napier, , accompanied by Mr and Mhs Hamlin, of | Kongo tea. i The Newbury school held us annual picnic on Saturday. Unfortunately, the day was wet and instead of the picnic being held at Awupuni. it was held in the hall, and during the afternoon the races were run in Mr W. Collins’ grounds. The children all spent a very happy day and were catered for with refreshments and ice-creams. Sweets, donated by the Bunnytliorpe Stores, were also distributed. The races resulted as follows: Girls, senior, M. Cave 1; middle division, B. Wilson 1; junior, L. Penberthy; consolation, A Cave; under school age, E. Thompson; boys, Forms I. and 11., P. Wood; Stds. 3 and 4, E. Wood; Stds., I and 2, J. Whitelock; primers, G. Blackwood; under five, R. Morris; consolation, R. Death; 440yds., J. Whiteloek; winners’ race, J. Whitelock; three-legged race, C, and K, Wood; sack race, J. Wild; crab race, K. Wood „ young ladies’ race, Miss Macaulay; chain stepping, ladies, Mrs J. Macaulay; thread the needle race, Mrs W. Penberthy;Hail driving, Mrs M. Hansen; chain stepping, men, C. Thomson; young men’s race, D. Blackwood; egg and spoon race, C. Wood; thread the needle race, C. Wood; nail driving, W. Wild; married men’s race, S. Knight; committeemen’s race, T. Ross; distance stepping, A. Hume and M. Hansen. The sqhool committee and parents wish to thank all those who donated trophies.
