Insurgents Capture Teruel
CITY SCENE OF FANTASTIC DESOLATION United Press Association-—By Electrio Telegraph.—Copyright. BARCELONA, Feb. 22. It is officially announced that the Republican garrison evacuated Teruel, breaking the rebel ring and joining the main forces outside the city. Before leaving Teruel, the Republicans set lire to the city, which is a mass of flames. The Barcelona Government is not greatly perturbed at the loss of Teruel, which is not regarded as strategically important. GOVERNMENT HIDES MAGNITUDE OF RETREAT Received Thursday, 12.5 a.m. TERUEL, Feb. 23. The insurgents pushed on three miles south of the city, threatening the main Valencia road. The Government admits the loss of Castralbo village on the Valencia road and continues to cover up the magnitude of the retreat, asserting that it was orderly. Teruel presents a scene of fantastic desolation, completely uninhabitable with hundreds of houses collapsed and blocking the streets. Th % o famous seminary is a chaotic pile of masonry.
