MR. LASSEN’S COMMENT ON HOSPITAL SPEECH From Our Own Correspondent. NAPIER, Last Night. A reply to the remarks made oy Mr c. O. Morse. Mayor o! Napier ar,d one ot the town’s representatives on the Hawke’s Bay Hospital Board, who adJressed a meeting ot tho Napier branch of the Labour Party on hospital matters, was made this morning by Mr C Lassen chairman of the Hospital Board, when asked to comment. Mr Lassen said that all he wished to say was that in his opinion it was degrading and disgraceful that Mr Morse, who had been a past chairman of the board for eight years, should see fit to make innuendoes against a member of the board and persons who had given evidence on oath before the Royal Commission. “If the Napier members of the board are going to proceed in the way they are against the Memorial Hospital.” said Mr Lassen, .. will only cause the Hastings portion of the district to advocate the dividing of the district and the establishment of a hospital for Hastings and the pprtion of the country surrounding.
