Huge Aircraft for Trans-Tasman Service
TWICE AS BIG AS CENTAURUS United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright, Received Tuesday, 9.35 p.m. MELBOURNE, Feb. 22. The Minister of Defence, Mr. H. V. C. Thorby, announced that giant flyingboats nearly twice the size of the Centaurus are being designed in England for the trans-Tasman air service. He pointed out that although the recent Tasman crossing by the Centaurus was tightly successful, it would be impossible to make a commercial success of the service with aircraft of such a small payload as that of the Centaurus.
