Death Sentence for Spreading Typhus
RUSSIAN WORKERS TO PAY PENALTY United Press Association—-By Electrlo Teleg rraph.—Copyrigrh t. Received. Tuesday, 11.45 p.m. MOSCOW, Feb. 22. Eleven veterinary workers have been sentenced to death at Ordzhonikidze for causing the deaths of 90,000 cattle since 1932 by spreading typhus bacilli resulting in the mass poisoning of civilians and soldiers. Two others were sentenced to death but this was commuted to 25 years’ imprisonment owing to a full confession and the fact that they can still be useful as specialists.
