The Other Side of the World
COUNTESS VON LUCKNER. Sea-blue eyes and curly flaxen hair, tall and slim, the delightful Countess von Luckner was captivated with the Auckland that unfolded before her as her husband’s auxiliary schooner off Stanley Bay. The Count brought the Seeteufel (German for ‘sea devil”) from Apia, Samoa, with Auckland as the main objective of a 16,000 miles cruise half-way round the world says the Star. •
“Felix wanted to show me New Zealannd—all the places he had been in and to meet the people whom he likes so much," she said smilingly. “See, it is right at the other side of the world, but he thinks so much about the people of your country. Yes, I am happy to be here." Together with the Count, the Countess this morning made a number of formal calls in the city.
