Post Office Outing
PICNIC AT ASHHURST. Approximately 400 persons attended tlio Post and Telegraph Department’s picnic held at the Ashhurst Racecourse yesterday. The weather conditions were ideal and an enjoyable time was spent by all. The success of the outing was largely due to the untiring efforts of the secretary, Mr R • Patterson, who, assisted by the committee, Messrs Barkwith (chairman), Milne, Boyd, Holmes, Honey, Rosanowski, Hendry, Paltridge, Thompson and Misses Clark and Driver, kept the programme running smoothly. Sports results were as follow: Girls. —Under 5: N. Paltridge 1, B. Howard 2; 5 to 7, S. Melville 1, B. Pascoe 2; 7 to 9, B. Thomson 1, S. Melville 2; 9 to 11, I. Hocking 1, P. O’Neill and B. Thomson 2. Sack race, 11 to 14: I. Hocking 1, D. Williams 2; 14 and under, N. Olsen 1, O. Hocking 2. Boys.—Under 5: B. Castleton 1, G. O’Neill 2; 5 to 7, K. Kersal 1, J. Bee 2; 7 to 9, K.
