Warm Temperatures Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, Last Night. An anti-cyclone of considerable intensity extends across the South Island, its centre being off the East Coast, while a cyclonic depression is situated northwest of the Dominion. Winds: South-easterly about Cook Strait, but otherwise east to north-east-erly prevailing, strong to gale force north of Kawhia and East Cape, elsewhere light to moderate but freshening especially north of Westport and Ka:koura. Seas (New Zealand waters): Rough to high north of E*st Cape, elsewhere slight to moderate but rising generally north of Westport and Kalkoura. Eastern Tasman: Strong easterly winds to gales in the northern portion with rough to high seas; moderate but freshening north-easterly winds and moderate seas in the southern portion. Weather; Fair to fine in western districts of the South Island, elsewhere cloudy to overcast and in places misty or foggy. Rain probable in the Auckland Province with some heavy falls and flooding in the far north and rain gradually extending southwards to beyond Cook Strait. Temperatures: Warm.
