EVENING MEETING At the meeting of the combined amateur athletic and cycling clubs last night good fields and times were the highlight of the evening. The following are the results:— Men’s 100 yards, open: Fisher (10 yds.) 1, Simpsou (3yds.) 2, Temperton (94yds.) 3. Time, lOsec. A very close finish to a good race. The wind was of little assistance. Men’s 440 yards, open: Scott (40) 1, Fisher (40) 2, Millar (35) 3. Time, 52 sec. Scott made the pace most of the way and sprinted hard over the last 100 yards to win by about 2yds. There was almost a dead-heat for second place and McVicar was very close up fourth. Men’s mile, open: Millar (75) 1, McVicar(4o) 2, Lamberton (90) 3. Time, 4min. 45see. McVicar pressed Millar to run a faster race than he did at the sub-centre championship on Saturday. Women’s 75 yards, open: Miss P. Wilson (7) 1, Miss P. Chalk (51) 2, Miss A. Wilson (24) 3. Time, 9sec. First three runners were fairly close. Mrs. V. Rollerson (scr.) could not make the pace to register better than fourth. Women’s 100 yards, open: Miss P. Chalk (8) 1, Miss A. Wilson (4) 2, Airs. V. Rollerson (scr.) 3. Time, 11 3-ssec. The time for the race was a little slow as the result of a rather poor start.
Two-lap cycle: Allen (10) 1, Rasmussen (35) 2, Aislabie (35) 3. Time, lmin. 35sec. Allen rode well to win by a good distance. Five mile cycle: Rasmussen (230) 1, Allen (100) 2, Anderson (400) 3. Time, 13min. 56secs. The field was fairly scattered at the finish, although Allen was gaining ground heavily.
