Extensive Rain at Hand Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, Last Night. An anti-oyclone extends from the South Island eastwards, pressure being very high beyond Chatham Islands. A cyclone is, however, centred near Norfolk Inland and a deep depression is moving on to south-eastern Australia. Winds: North-easterly to easterly prevailing strong to gale force over the northern half of the North Island; elsewhere light to moderate but later increasing generally from Cook Strait northwards. Seas (New Zealand waters): Rough north of East Cape and a considerable swell south of East Cape; elsewhere moderate. Eastern Tasman: Strong easterly winds to gales in the northern portion with rough seas, moderate north-easter-ly winds later changing temporarily to south-easterly in the southern portion with moderate seas. Weather: Dull and misty in the northern half of the North Island with rain probable, heavy falls developing in places; elsewhere fair at first but later unsettled conditions and rain extending over most of the North Island and East Coast districts of the south.
