Trade With U.S.A. Can be Extended

VIEW OF AMERICAN BUSINESSMAN Per Press Association. AUCKLAND, Feb. 19. Firmly convinced tnat iraae can De extended between New Zealand and America in both directions, Mr E. F MacDonough, representing the foreign department of the Los Angeles Chamber of Commerce, arrived by the Mariposa this morning. His mission is to interview chambers of commerce, Government departments, businessmen and others with a view to stimulating trade between the two countries. “Businessmen connected with the or ganisations I represent are convinced that if trade between the two countries is to last, it must be reciprocal,” nc said. “We think that the tourist traffic is cablable of expansion, as well as general trade, and I will also look into that side of the problem. There was a time not so long ago when New Zealand bought a great deal more than she supplied, but during the last two or three years the balance has been more even. I have come equipped for conversations and have brought a list containing 15 commodities which I understand New Zealand is open to sell id America. I will investigate their possi biiities and I feel sure that extended two-way trade will result.” After several weeks in New Zealand Mr MacDonough will go to Australia.
