GOLDINGHAM AND BECKETT’S BEAT HIGHWAYS TRANSPORT NINE WICKETS FOR 40 BY VINING The annual cricket match between Goldingham and Beckett, Ltd., and the Highways Transport Co., was held during the week-end. The first innings score gave Highways a lead of one run, but by good bowling and batting in the second innings Goldingham and Beckett’s reg istered a victory by 29 runs. In the first. innings Highways made 71 (Rotheray 18, Carrington 21), and bowling for G. and B.’s Palmer took four for 37 and Harkness two for 12. Goldingham and Beckett's made 70 (Madgwick 23), and Ormond took four lor 20 and Haldane four for 11. The second innings scores were as follows: Highways 71, Smith (23) being top man, Ormond (18) next. Palmer took 4 for 18, Harkness 4 for 25. G. and B. replied with 101 (Madgwick 60, Fielding 12) and bowling for Highways Viuing took nine for 40. Vining, the smallest man in the game, bowled particularly well to secure his phenomenal average.
