Mrs. R. Porter and her son, Dudley, have returned to Palmerston North, after a fortnight spent at Plimmerton. Mr. G. E. Overton has resigned the position of senior school inspector in the Otagp educational district to accept an appointment in Nelson. Very Rev. Monsignor MacManus and Rev. Fathers Herlihy and Jansen, of Palmerston North, will be visitors to Auckland this week for the Catholic centenary celebrations. The president of the Palmerston North Rotary Club (Mr A. A. Langley) and Rotorian C. F. Cronin are local delegates to the Rotary conference to be held in Christchurch this week.

Mr E. S. Hoddinott, of Palmerston North, who has completed his period of training at Trinity College, Auckland, where he was senior student last year has been received on probation for the ministry by the Methodist Church Conference.

Doctor E. F. Thompson, graduate of the Auckland University, has been appointed hydrologist to the Bermuda Biological Station. The appointment is regarded as an important one and is made by the Royal Geographical Society for five years. Dr. Thompson was formerly assistant director at tue Canterbury Museum.
