High Prices for Southdowns

MASTERTON RAM FAIR Per Press Association. MASTERTON, Last Night. Unexpectedly high prices were paid for flock and stud Southdowns at the Masterton ram fair to-day. Practically the whole of the entry changed hands. Mr. H. J. Andrew, the well-known South Island breeder, topped the market for flocks, Mr. N. McLauchlan (Masterton) paying 35gns. The demand and prices for stud Southdowns were also consistently good. Mr. Andrew again topped the market with 153gns., paid by Nielson Bros. (Havelock North). Prices generally for flocks and studs were fully 100 per cent, better than those realised at the recent Hawke’s Bay fair.
