Engagement of Dominion Interest

THE MASTER OF GRANT TO WED * NEW ZEALANDER

The engagement is announced between the Hon. Donald Patrick Trevor Ogilvie-Grant of Grant, only son of Lord and Lady Strathspey, of Hylton I House, Rottingdean, Sussex, and Alice, only child of the late Francis Bowe, of Timaru, and Mrs Bowe, now of Eastbourne, Sussex, states a Herald correspondent. Lord Strathspey was born in Oamaru, the second son of the tenth Earl of Seafield, who died in 1888. He was educated at Waitaki High School and St. John’s College, and belonged to the Civil Service from 1906-13. He was also attached to the Naval Artillery Volunteers- and Native Rifles in New Zealand before coming to England, where he kept up his association with the Dominion by becoming president of the English branch of the Waitaki Old Boys’ Association. Strathspey, whom he married in 1905, was formerly Miss Alice Louisa HardyJohnson, daughter of the late Mr T. M. Hardy-Johnson, of Christchurch. Mr Ogilvie-Grant is their only son, and they havo one daughter, who is now Mrs Frank H. Onslow.

Mr Ogilvie-Grant, who will be 2G in March, holds the title of Master of Grant. He was educated at Stowe, trained at the South Eastern Agricultural College, and is an associate of the Land Agents’ Society and a probationer of the Chartered Surveyors’ Institute.
