Miss Kathleen Courtney’s Visit

CENTRAL COMMITTEE MAKE ARRANGEMENTS A meeting of the central committee was hold yesterday afternoon in the Y.W.C.A. rooms to make arrangements for the forthcoming visit to Palmerston North of Miss Kathleen Courtney, who, in the course of a lecture tour of New Zealand .on . peace questions, will address various organisations in this city shortly. Present were representatives of the Plunlcet Society (Mrs. G. C. Petersen), ‘Missionary Auxiliary of the Church of Christ (Mrs. Tyrrel-Baxter), League of Nations’ Union (Mrs. Reid and Rev. J. Hubbard), Manawatu County Club (Mrs. Small), All Saints’ Mothers’ Union (Mrs. Briden-Jones ana Mrs. E. Metcalfe), Business and Professional Women’s Round Table Club (Mrs. J. Garde Grimshaw), Vincent do Paul Society (Mrs. Flood), Y.W.C.A. (Miss B. Kelly). The new secretary of the Y.W.C.A., Miss H. M. Saunders, introduced Mr. G. G. Priost, who took the chair. It was decided that no charge would be made at the public meeting at which Miss Courtney will speak, but a collection will be taken. Mr. Priest was asked to take the chair at the meeting. It was decided to include in the programme a dinner for the Business and Professional Women’s Round Table Club at which Miss Courtney would be a guest, to be followed by a roundtable discussion for Toe H and League of Nations’ Union members.

Miss Saunders reported that Mr. J. Murray had consented to take the chair at the meeting for schools. A meeting to finalise arrangements for Miss Courtney’s visit will be held in the Y.W.C.A. rooms next Wednesday at 2.30 p.m., Miss -Saunders in the meantime being responsible for publicity.
