"Seems to be a Conspiracy”
MAGISTRATE’S COMMENT IN CASE AT WELLINGTON Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, Fob. 15.
1 ‘There is a very serious aspect to this case in that there sems to be a conspiracy between two men to interferewith the course of justice,’’ said Mr. J. H. Luxford, S.M., in a case before him to-day. It arose from a collision on January 7 between a car driven by Patrick Joseph Boyle, whi was charged with negligqnt driving and a taxi. The evidence was that the taxi-driver stopped Boyle to discuss the matter of damages, and Boyle drove off. The collission was reported to the police and Boyle reported two days later. Meantime, the owner of the car, John Joseph Sander, a friend of Boyle, reported that his car had been stolen, it being suggested that this apparently was to help Boyle out of trouble. Sander was separately charged with mak ing a false statement. Boyle was fined £l, with costs, and
his driving license was suspended for three months. The case against Sander was adjourned for a week pending a report by the probation officer and the appearance of defendant.
