All Saints’ Branch Of the Mothers’ Union
FUNCTION AT MBS. H. G, B AGNAIL’S
The home of Mrs. H. G. Bagnall, Te Awe Awe street, Palmerston North, was the scene of a pleasant gathering yesterday afternoon, when members of the All Saints’ branch of the Mothers’ Union held their first meeting of the year.
Owing to inclement weather, the function took place indoors, and not, as was originally intended, in the garden. The afternoon w r ent all too quickly with games and a competition, which was won by Mrs. Arlidge and Miss C. Hosking, Mrs. Bagnall kindly providing prizes. Among those present were Canon and Mrs. G. Y. Woodward and Rev. J. S. Holland. After a dainty afternoon tea was served by the members, Canon Woodward thanked Mrs. Bagnall for her kindly hospitality, saying how much the Mothers’ Union appreciated the way in which she offered her home and garden each year for their first meeting. Canon Woodward reminded those present of the annual Sunday School picnic, which will be held at Ashhurst on Saturday week. Another reminder was given of the garden party at Mrs. Brougham’s house next week, the object of which will be to raise funds for the Melanesian Mission. Canon Woodward stressed the importance of the mission and commended Mrs. Brougham on her untiring energy in this direction.
