From Our Own Correspondent. Last Saturday the Cuy Cup competition commenced in the Country Districts Tennis Association. The A teams of the Beaconsfield and Cheltenham clubs played at Cheltenham, Beaconsfield winning by 12 sets, 83 games to 4 sets, 51 games. The following is the result of the B teams match at Beaconsfield, Cheltenham players being mentioned first:— Men’s singles; T. Short beat T. French, A. Humphrey lost to M. McLean. L, Murray beat G. Entwisle, J. Anderson, beat F. Arrow. Men’s doubles: Short and Humphrey lost to French and McLean; Murray and Anderson lost to Entwisle and Arrow. Women’s singles: Miss D. Hill lost to Miss M. French, Mrs Anderson lost to Miss J. Corpe, Miss Anderson beat Miss A. Coggin, Mrs Humphrey beat Miss R. Stewart. Ladies’ double Women's doubles: Miss Hill and Mrs Anderson, lost to Misses French and Corpe; Miss Anderson and Mrs Humphrey beat Misses Coggin and Stewart. Mixed doubles: Short and Miss Hill lost to French and Miss French; Humphrey and Mrs Anderson beat McLean and Miss Corpe; Murray and Miss Anderson lost to Entwisle and Miss Coggin; Anderson and Mrs Humphrey beat Arrow and Miss Stewart. Cheltenham won by the narrow margin of one game, Cheltenham 8 sets 72 games, Beaconsfield 8 sets 71 games.
