MRS. D. C. TENNENT The death occurred at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Hugh Boyer, “Marholm," Waver ley, Chits tchurck, on Friday evening last, of Mrs. Douglas Cowper Tennent. Mrs. Tenncnt was the eldest child of the late Mr. and Mrs. John Greenwood (Nelson) and eldest grandchild of the late Dr. and Mrs. Danforth Greenwood, uud Major and Mrs. C. Manners Gascoyne, both of Motucka and Nelson. The former arrived in the sailing skip Phoebe iu January, IS4I, and the latter, Major Gascoyne, retired from the Indian Army in 1557. Mrs. Tennent’* husband, of “Westward Ho," Marlon, died iu 1920. Her grandfather, Major Gascoyne, was a first cousin of Robert Arthur Talbot Gascoyue-CeciJ, third -Marquis of Salisbury, and lather of the present holder of the title, both of whom have visited New Zealand. The late Marquis was Prime Minister of England lor 13 years. Airs. Tennent's maternal grandfather, Surgeon Donald Campbell, of tho Fifth Beugal Light Cavalry, was the last child to be born in the ancient lvoyal DunstalTuago Castle, Argyleshire, the hereditary scat of the Campbell CJan, ia which the famous Coronation Stone ' v as lodged for 300 years. Mrs. Tennent \s family has been noted for its longevity. Her mother died *»t the age of 90 years, and her grandmother at 93 years of age. Mrs. Tennent is survived by Mrs. lan Simpson (Woodville), Airs. R. N. Todd (Invercargill), Air. Percy D. Tennent (‘ ‘ Dunstaffnage, ’ ’ Waverley), Airs. •A. V. Oliver (Greymouth), Air. John G. Tennent (Hawera), Mrs. 11. Boyer (Waverley), Mr. William C. Tennent (Hastings), Airs. E. Oliver (Pleasant Point, South Canterbury). Her two brothers are Dr. Cecil Danforth Greenwood (Sydney) and Air. Charles Greenwood ("Westmere," Wanganui). Her aunt, Mrs. Gordon Saxby (nee Greenwood), died in November of this year at East Cape, North Island. Wellington relatives include the late Mrs. Stowe, Tinakori road, and the Alisses Greenwood, of Aluritai.
