From Our Own Correspondent. Fancy Dress Ball.

On Friday evening last a successful annual fancy dress dance was held at the Junction School. The nail was decorated with streamers and coloured lights which, together with the gay costumes of the children, presented a lanciful scene. The performance of folk dances during the evening reflected credit upon the teachers and pupils. Supper was served under the supervision of the headmaster's wife, Mrs F. A. Hempleman. Miss J. Wilkinson, and Messrs R. Neijson and N. Whale provided the music.

A successful dance was held on Saturday evening to mark the close of the hockey season. The floor was crowdea and the evening was thorougnly enjoyable. Messrs H. Carpenter ahd A. Gracie were Ms.C. A Monte Carlo lox-trot was won by Mr R. Still and Mrs J. Sinclair and a waltz by Mr F. McHugh and Miss O. Houghton, hollowing the suuper interval, the president of the Rangitikei Hockey Association, Mr W. G. Aitken, presented the iropnies won during the past season, as follows: Linklielu Rose Bowl, United Club; Paranihi Challenge Cup, Tutaenui Club; Davis Cup (Y-a-side at Feilding), Kia Ora Club, and miniatures presented to Misses P. Carpenter, M. lwikau, M. Bush, M. Aitken, M. 1* itches P. Williams and B. Good; local sevon-a-side, Kia Ura Club; Southtieiu Cup (Rangitikei championship). Kia Ora; Win-ton Cup and miniatures for 11-a-side at Tutaenui, Kia Ora; Halcombe Challenge Cup, Kia Ora; Joblin Cup (runnersup in 7-a-side tourney at Taihape), Kia Ora; Quirk Cup (winners men’s 5-a-side tourney at Taihape), Kia Ora with miniatures presented lo W. Bush. A. Blair, P. Williams, E. Palmer, H. Carpenter, hockey stick, presented by Mr J. H. Signal lor most improved player during the season, Miss Joan “Palmer (Kia Ora).
