Farmers’ Ball
PREPARATIONS FOR TO-NIGHT. Interest and enthusiasm—a formidable combination—in connection with the Farmers’ Union Ball, to be held in the Drill hall to-night, are increasing by hops, steps and jumps and a great gathering of merrymakers is assured. Tho ladies’ committee of tho Women’s Division of the Farmers’ Union are working with fervent zeal and sparing no effort in their highly commendable endeavour to make to-night’s function ! a memorable one. Revellers are coming I from near and far and tho welkin should resound to a carnival of pleasantry from the very moment that IGedson’s Aces sets the assemblage m joyous activity to the sweet and alluiing strains of Strauss’ "Blue Danube" waltz. A wonderful response is being made to the appeul lor donations to the supper and the following list of additional donors came to hand this morning:—Mcsdames W. E. C. Tylee, l*. Holdaway, F. W. Gaudin, E. Edt&e, K. C. Hercock, C. J. Eising, J. T. Ross, F. W. Long, It. Gregory, B. Burns, X. E. Parry, R. Cleghoru, D. Foster, S. H. \\ heeler, F. W. Bibby, P. H. Schroder, A. Tait, E. L. Harvey, F. M. Gregorie, | W. R. Taylor, A. W. Bisset, G. A. Allan, IH. Cornelius, C. Walker and Miss N. Bain. The Drill hall was a scene of bustle and activity yesterday, an army of ' workers being strenuously engaged in the hundred and one little details necessary to nave the big building in readiness for to-night’s function, as all the equipment incidental to a social gathering has to be procured, which means a great deal of work and organising effort.
