PERSONALITIES
The visit of the Governor-General (Viscount Galway) to Auckland ended when he left by the Limited express last evening for Wellington. His Excellency will go to Dunedin and Invercargill, spending a few days in each centre and will also pay official visits to Milton, Balclutha and Gore.— Press Association.
Mr. D. Neilson, deputation secretary for Australia and New Zealand of the Ceylon and India general mission, is the guest of Pastor and Mrs. J. Walker, 203 Princess street. Mr. Neilson, who has been engaged iu work among the Muslim people of Mysore, South India, until quite recently, is visiting Palmerston North on deputation work in connection with that mission.
Two appointments in the Legislative Department were announced last night by the Minister in Charge of the Department (Hon. H. G. R. Mason). Mr. J. R. Taylor, who has been assistant chief messenger at Parliament House since 1020, has been appointed chief messenger, in succession to the late Mr. W. Oakley, and Mr. W. T. Brown, who is at present attached to the office of the Acting Prime Minister takes the place of Mr. Taylor as deputy chief mes--enger.—Press Assn.
