Notes of the Day

The secretary of the Feilding Acclimatisation Society received advice yesterday that the Wellington Society had agreed to permit Feilding licenseholders to shoot anywhere in tho Wellington Society's district. This action follows on the decision of the Feilding Society to amalgamate with the Wellington organisation. Pending finality in the matter of amalgamation Wellington district license-holders are at liberty to shoot in the Feilding district. A married man named Sydney Joseph Birchley Burnc, aged 37 years, of Glasgow Terrace, Feilding, was yesterday admitted to the Palmerston North Hospital suffering from a gunshot wound. He failed to respond to treatment and died in the institution. It was stated by the police that a .22 rifle was found beside tho deceased when he was discovered.

Provided the weather conditions are propitious the Feilding Municipal Band will give a recital in the band rotunda to-morrow afternoon. Tho programme will include the following numbers: — “Ocean Star"; hymn bracket, “Deep Harmony" and “Lavinia"; fox-trot, “Cafe in Budapest"; selection, “The Spirit of Youth"; waltz, selected; march, “Sons of tho Brave"; “God Save the King."
