Banking Activities In New Zealand
NOT ENTERING SAVINGS BANK BUSINESS United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright. Received Tuesday, 10.5 p.m. SYDNEY, May 25. In connection with the purchase oi the Bank of New South Wales of additional property in Queen street, Auckland, the officials of the bank in Sydney disclaim any intention to enlarge the scope of the bank’s activities in New Zealand by entering the savings bank business.
The Sun states there is no concerted move by trading banks in New Zealand to exploit further avenues of business in view of the loss of exchange profit since the Labour Government placed the financing of the Dominion’s dairyproduce exports with the Reserve Bank.
