Wedding Bells at Sandon
LUMSDEN—SANSON. A wedding of district interest was celebrated on the evening of Thursday, May 20, in the Sandon Methodist Church, when Gwendoline Phyllis, youngest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. A. H. Sanson, was married to Kenneth Ronald, eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. W. A. Lumsden, also of Sanson. The church had been beautifully decorated for the occasion and was packed to capacity with well wishers. The ceremony was performed by Rev. R. E. Forydce, and Mrs. W. E. Tearco presided at tho organ. The bride, who was given away "by her father, looked smart in a dark brown tailored costume, cream georgette blouse, with brown felt hat and brown sifede shoes. She carried a beautiful shower bouquet of cream chrysanthemums, carnations and orange blossom, with streamers Oif maiden hair and asparagus fern and magnolia shaded ribbon.
The bridesmaid, Miss Jean Butler (niece of the bride) was similarly attired in a brown tailored costume, pale pink blouse with hat and shoes to tone, and she also carried a beautiful shower bouquet of pink roses, carnations, sweet peas, daphne and chrysanthemums, with streamers of maiden hair and asparagus fern and pink satin ribbon. Mr. Keith Lumsden (brother of the. bridegroom) carried out the duties of best man.
After the ceremony the guests adjourned to the Sandon Town Hall, where they were received by Mrs. Sanson, who wore a frock of blue marocain and navy coat with brown fur trimming, hat and shoes to tone, and carried a posy of red roses and berries, which completed a smart ensemble. Mrs. W. A. Lumsden, mother of the bridegroom, assisted, wearing a smart navy striped costume, with hat and shoes to tone, her posy being of bronze chrysanthemums and berries. The reception room was tastefully decorated in a colour scheme to match the bridal party and the handsome twotiered wedding cake centred the brifle’s table. The usual toasts were honoured.
Following the reception a number of friends were entertained at a social and dance, a very happy time being spent until the early hours of the morning.
Mr. and Mrs. K. R. Lumsden left amidst showers of confetti and good wishes for the Hawke’s Bay district.
