“Park Avenue Logger” Thrilling Outdoor Drama

A thrilling outdoor drama set against New York City and the rugged background of a gigantic lumber camp in the Northwest, “Park Avenue Logger,” a George Hirlman production for RKO Radio release, has George O’Brien in the robust title role of the popular magazine story by Bruce Hutchinson. The action picture depicts O ’Brien as a wealthy scion of a lumber magnate who believes his son a “softie" with leanings toward the intellectual rather than physical. Tho virile star, however, is really the Masked Marvel, a wrestling champion whose identity is kept secret by his manager. With the intention of trying to make a he-man out ot his supposed spineless son, the millionaire sends him to one of his big lumber camps -to learn the logging business from the bottom up under an assumed name. In the timber country O ’Brien meets Peggy O’Shea, a young girl who courageously runs a rival lumber business for her crippled father. When he wins his spurs as an expert lumberjack, O’Brien endeavours t** help the girl make an important lumber shipment ou time, but ho is made the victim of a plotting foreman who exposes O’Brien as an imposter, causing tho girl to suspect him of trying to wreck her business for his father’s interest. How O’Brien apprehends the real conspirators who have schemed against the girl as well as him, was Kitty’s love and his father's admiration, are said to be events leading up to the thrill-laden climax. Beatrice Roberts, erstwhile Ziegfeld girl and beautiful artist’s model, makes her debut as George O’Brien’s leading lady, while Bert Hanlon, well known comedian, had a prominent comedy role. Produced by George A. Hirliman, “Park Avenue Logger" was photopraphed in the big tree country in Northern California. Oregon and Washington, where the typical activititics of a modern lumber industry were filmed.
