Said He Was Second Rudolph Valentino

GREEK’S ROMANTIC ESTIMATE OF HIMSELF. A Greek who, according to a statement of Mr A. M. Ongley, counsel for the complainant, iiad likened himself to Rudolph Valentino, the most romantic lover of the silent screen, appeared in the Magistrate’s Court, in Palmerston North, yesterday to oppose a request for an affiliation and maintenance order against him. Peculiar circumstances attended the case. The matter was previously before the i court, and on March 15 an order was actually made. However, it transpired that the defendant, Alexander Magoulianos, a chef, had intended asking for an adjournment on that occasion, but through a misunderstanding between counsel this was not obtained. Magoulianos, therefore, asked to have the case re-heard, and this re hearing was granted yesterday. After the case had been opened, a temporary adjournment was taken, and it was then announced that Magoulianos did not propose to defend the case further. He entered the witness box, however, to give evidence as to his earnings and tho amounts which he remits to his mother and two sisters in Greece. He claimed that he sent them 30s weekly. An order for 10s a week maintenance for his child was made against Magoulianos, with costs and witnesses’ expenses.
