RACING AT WOODVILLE.
DANNEVIRKE CLUB. END-OF-APRIL MEETING. For the past three seasons the Dannevirke Racing Club has held a meeting on the Woodvilie racecourse with the hope of making a profit to reduce its heavy indebtedness, and ease the liability of the guarantors, but on each occasion bad weather has spoilt the meeting. It speaks volumes for the pluck of the management that in the programme for the race meeting to be held at Woodvilie on April 30, and May 1 it is giving in stakes treble the amount required to be given by the Rules of Racing, or 35 per cent, of the last season’s totalisator turnover. Racehorse owners are sportsmen, and as such have a kindly sympathy for the club battling against adversity. It is therefore hoped that they will support the club by providing good fields, and the sporting public will not be slow to follow a good examplo.
