From Our Own Correspondent. Harvest Festival. There were large congregations at both the morning and evering services of the Methodist Church on Sunday, when the annual harvest festival was celebrated. The church was decorated with a goodly supply of the fruits of the field. The morning service was conducted by Mr H Dixon, while the evening service was con • ducted by the Rev. R. E. Fordyce. Thu local choir, under the baton of Mr A. K, Drew, was strengthened by a party ol chorists from Palmei’ston North. The soloist at the morning service was Mrs L, Matthews, while Mr Bennett (Palmerston North) was the soloist at the evening service. The sale of produce conducted, in the vestry of the church on Monday evening attracted a fair attendance of buyers. The proceeds and donations were in the vicinity of £7, which was considered very satisfactory. House Warming Party. A house-warming party was held last Friday evening when a number of the younger set gathered together at the homo of Mr and Mrs Donovan Grace, where a very happy evening was spent playing flag bridge and dancing. Mrs D. Grace received her guests wearing a charming silver grey velvet frock finished with crimson carnations. The dining and drawing rooms were delightfully decorated in bronze and gold French marigolds The winners of the flag bridge were Miss E. Pearce. Mr D. Grace and Mr J Palmer. Among those present were: Mrs Gordon Drew, Misses E. Pearce. F. Palmer, J. Bradley, E. Galbally. N. Frecklington, F. Anderson, M. Anderson. Messrs CJ. Drew, J. Palmer, J. Bradley. K. Henson. C. Guscott, j. Frecklington. P. Pearce and C. Grace. Personal. Miss Eve Galbally has returned to Wellington after spending a fortnight’s holiday with her aunt, Mrs Herman A. Pearce. Mr W. Drummond spent last week-end at his home in Greytown. Miss H. A’Court was a visitor to Wellington recently.
