Mr M. J. Savage Accorded Welcome by City and District
Round of Visits to Secondary Schools Tie visit of Hon. M. J. Savage to Palmerston North yesterday provided a busy day for the Prime Minister. Arriving in the mornSg from Botorna, he commenced his activities by visiting the three schools and Massey College. There followed a luncheon tendered by the Cty Council and Kairanga County Council in conjunction and then a public reception was accorded him from the band rotunda in the Square. Later the Prime Minister was called upon to open the Convent garden party. In the evening he addressed a very large gathering of citizens in .the A. and P. produce hall. All his calls yesterday were marked with enthusiasm and tho keynote of Mr. Savage’s speeches can be expressed in his desire to serve the people and be unto them as a friend.
