From Our Own Correspondent. Tennis. A well contested tennis match, took place at Pohanglna on Saturday, when the local team met the Manawatu representatives in a match in the B grade series. Pohanglna proved to be the superior team by a small margin, the scores being: rohangina, 9 sets, 84 games; Manawatu 7 sets, 76 games. Details of the play were as follows; Men's Singles: R. Smart beat E. Christmas 7—2, F. Roberts lost to W. Smillie 4 7, H. Moar lost to J 5. Nuttall 4—7, A. Roberts beat W. Robson 7—2. Ladies’ Singles: Miss M. Smart beat Miss E. Heatly 6—o, Miss J. Sinclair lost to Miss E. Simmons 3—6, Miss D. Watson beat Miss Slifield 6—5, Mrs A. Roberts beat Miss J. Oliver 6—5. Men's Doubles: Smart and F. Roberts beat Christmas and Smillie 7—4, Moar and A. Roberts beat Nuttall and Robson 7—3. Ladies’ Doubles: Misses Smart and Sinclair lost to Misses Heatly and Simmons 5 6, Miss Watson and Mrs Roberts lost to Misses Slifield o—6. Combined Doubles: Smart and Miss Smart beat Christmas and Miss Heatly 7—4, F. Roberts and Miss Sinclair lost to Smillie and Miss Simmonds 2—7, Moar and Miss Watson lost to Nuttall and Miss Slifield 6—7, A. Roberts and Mrs Roberts beat Robson and Miss Oliver 7—5. Personal. Friends of Miss M. Klink. of Pohanglna, who recently underwent an operation in the Palmerston North Hospital, will be pleased to learn that she has recovered sufficiently to allow her returning home. Mr and Mrs N. If. Moar and family, who have been on holiday at Paraparaumu beach, returned to Pohanglna during the week-end. Mr T. G. Turnbull is on a visit to Otakl Mr and Mrs J. W. Maddison have returned from a visit to To Awamutu. Mr and Mrs W. Shadbolt left Pohangina on Monday to take up residence at Umutoi.
