SENIOR PAIRS TITLE. WON BY PILKINTON AND L. CHATWIN. The final for tho Pahiatua Bowling Club’s senior pairs championship has been won by L. Chatwin and R. Pilkinton, who defeated G. Chatwin and Dr. Paterson by 24—19. Starting off with a handicap of two, the latter pair took tho first head with a two and then lost the next two, afer which Pilkinton and L. Chatwin wore leading 5—4. G. Chatwin and Paterson scored a single in the next head when tho board read fivo all. Seven went down on Pilkinton’s tally in tho two subsequent heads and then their opponents dug in their toes in the next five heads, after which the board read: Pilkinton 13, Paterson 12. Pilkinton then rang on a three at tho twelfth, Paterson responding with a pair of singles. Tho fifteenth head went to Pilkinton with a brace, and at this stage the star of Paterson and G. Chatwin was in the ascendancy. They put on a single at the sixteenth and followed it up with a three and another single, thus regaining their early lead.
Excitement ran high at this stage as it was anyone’s game. Pilkinton and his partner rolled down a three which’ put them in front again and they pift the issue beyond doubt by repeating this at the twentieth bead. The game was worthy of a final and tho win was well deserved, Pilkinton’s play having been most consistent throughout the competition-
