London Judges’ Comments On H.B. Show Pigs
1 The results of the London judging 01 (tho porker and baconer classes at the Jiawke’s Bay A. and P. Societyl936 fepring Show liavo now been received from Messrs. Henry S. Fitter and Sons, Ltd. In the bacon class first place went to Mr. H. Wilson, while tin premier pork award went to the Cheltenham Coop. Dairy Co., Ltd. The detailed reports are as follow: The bacon entries were very good carcases, but were really too heavy for bacon purposes. They were, however, lull of meat and of good make and shape and of good appearance. 1175, H. Wilson, Ist place: Well bred meaty pig, nice long back and not too fat. 1174, Cheltenham Co-op. Dairy Co., 2nd place: Good meaty pig, nice long back and not too fht. 1176, A. Struthers, 3rd place: Well bred meaty pig, but too heavy. 1177, A Struthers, 4th place: Good meaty pig, but too heavy and too much weight in fore quarters. The porkers were a nic e lot of pigs, well bred and not too fat. The drestJ ing was good, but the skins were inclined to be coarse. 1172, Cheltenham Co-op. Dairy Co., Ist place; Two good well bred lean pigs. Good colour and in our opinion the most suitable for the London trade. 1171, Mis s G. Breen, 2nd place: Two Rood well shaped meaty pigs, not tof* fat. 1173, H. Wilson, 3rd place: 1\ meaty pigs of good make and shape.
