Orpheus Society
ANNUAL MEETING The 30th annual general meeting of the Palmerston North Orpheus Society was held on Wednesday evening, Mr. G. Stout being in the chair. The treasurer presented the balance-sheet which disclosed that the society was In a better financial position than it had been for some years. The election of officers resulted: — President, Mr. C. E. Taylor; vice-presi-dents, Messrs L. G. Che twin, J. Bailey and J. Mitchell; hon. secretary, M*r. L. B. Gill; hon. treasurer, Mr. T. K. Fraser; committee, Messrs G. Webb, J. Fleck and D. Dilks; librarian, Mr. G. Stout; assistant librarians, Messrs K. Packer and L. Cate rick; hon. accompanist, Mr. C. W. Teppett; hon. conductor, Mr. A. G. Brown. After the election of officers, several new members were introduced to the society and the names of a number of others were handed in. It was decided lhat practices be resumed next Wednesday, the 10th inst., and it was felt that the programme as outlined for this season would necessitate as many rehearsals as possible. Eulogistic references were made to the work of the officers during the past season.
