Obituary

MRS. CAROLINE THOMAS, OF FEILDING. The death occurred at Feilding on Monday of Mrs. Caroline Thomas, a native of Canterbury, at the age of 68 years. With her husband, the late Mr. Edmund Thomas, Mrs. Thomas came to the North Island and settled in Palmerston North, where Mr. Thomas conducted a business for some years. Later, he sold the business and took up a farm at Mt. Biggs. In 1928 Mr. Thomas died and Mrs. Thomas disposed of the farm and came to live in Feilding. Of a quiet and retiring disposition, the late Mrs. Thomas enjoyed good health until eight years ago, when she suffered a heart complaint, and for the past five months she had been confined to her bed. She was very fond of flowers and much of her time was spent in gardening when her health permitted. Mrs. Thomas leaves to mouru her passing five daughters, two sons and five grandchildren. Mrs. D. W. Reid, of Sandon road, Feilding, is a daughter. The other daughters and sous arc: Misses M., K., N. and G. Thomas and Messrs. Pryce and Leonard Thomas, all of Feilding. Airs. Thomas also had four sisters and four brothers all living in the South Island. A member of the Anglican Church, only Mrs. Thomas’ failing health had precluded her of late from regularly attending worship each Sunday. Both Air. and Mrs. Thomas were wellknown in the Palmerston North and Feilding districts and the family will have the sympathy of a wide circle of friends in their bereavement.
