Dempsey Returns to Ring
Making his first appearance in the ring as a boxer since 1932, and probably his last, Jack Dempsey, former world heavy-weight champion, beat Mike Conroy, a restaurant proprietor and ex-heavy-weight champion of •South America, in a three rounds exhibition contest recently. Dempsey showed form which many heavy weights of to-day would have envied, and Conroy put up a fine show. Commenting on the present heavy-weight situation Dempsey said: “It is the worst it has ever been. Joe Louis is th# best of a poor lot."
